In the world's scientific atlases and journals, the Philippine Plate or Filipino Plate is one of the 15 plates that constitute the earth's lithosphere. The Philippine Archipelago being situated in the belt of fire is of geologic interest as it provides numerous geologic attractions such as geographic and geologic monuments, structures and features. The Philippines, being "well endowed with mineral resources and its long history and experience in mining, has demonstrated its very rich potential for copper, gold and nickel, chromite and other metallic minerals. It has also abundant industrial minerals such as marble, limestone, clays, feldspar, rock aggregates and dolomite.
 
     
These mineral districts, and operating mines likewise, provide a new and unique tourist destinations for the Philippines.
