TOUR DESTINATIONS
 
 
GEOTOUR 1 - MGB LOOP
 
MG Loop will be handled by experts from the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) - a bureau of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. This geotour will cover topics on geology (esp. Metro Manila geology), mining, quarrying, cement production, historical sites, and present natural resources and geological features of Metro Manila.
 
A lecture at MGB Museum will commence the tour. Followed by a field lecture at the top of Antipolo mountain, then to Teresa Marble quarry, followed by a visit to Republic Cement plant. Lunch will be at Balaw Balaw Restaurant. Then a historical sites in Angono- the petroglyphs. Then going back to the MGB, will pass by the Manggahan Floodway - a man-made 'river' that connects the Pasig River and the Laguna de Bay.

GEOTOUR 2 - PHIVOLCS LOOP
 
The starting point of this loop is the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). A lecture will held in this venue before going into the field. The topics will deal mostly on earthquakes, volcanoes, seismology and other related topics.
From Phivolcs, the tour will pass by C5 (CP Garcia Highway) here most of this road passes through the West Valley Faultline. Along SLEX, a bump on the road will be felt when the bus passes through an active faultline along SLEX between Sucat and Alabang exits. Then the bus will take the geotourists to Pansol and Los Banos, then to mud volcanoes. The tour will go around the inactive volcanic cone towards the seven lakes of San Pablo City. If there are still time, the tour will pass by Taal Volcano via STAR Tollways then Talisay Road.

GEOTOUR 3 - NIGS LOOP
 
This tour will be handled by the National Institute of Geological Sciences (NIGS) of the University of the Philippines - Diliman. This tour will touch on the topics of geology, hydrology and other related sciences.
 
The tour will start at the NIGS - UP Diliman, Quezon City campus. A lecture and a visit to NIGS museum will start the tour. The field portion will start at the La Mesa Dam and Eco-Park. Expert geotour guides will accompany the geotourists during the field tours. Then towards Montalban Bridge (Rodriguez, Rizal) then to Wawa Dam. The bus will pass through Marikina and go to Cogeo to see geological features, such as, pillow lavas and limestone formation.
